This Halloween Lucian went as a knight, Sir Lucian the dragon slayer, and Brett went as the dragon. I knitted him a "chain mail" hood, which he didn't really like to wear and he had a sword and shield. Unfortunately we could never get a picture of him in his full outfit, but he looked very cute.

After the first house he wanted to sit down and check out his two pieces of candy but after a few more houses he began to get the hang of it and was soon running after his friends to the next house. He couldn't say 'trick or treat' but he waved 'bye' to everyone who gave him candy!

We got back around 7pm and Grammie and Lucian had fun making a ball pit out of a container.

Straw Maze Fun

Yesterday evening we went to a straw maze out by Big Judds in Archer. It was so much fun! We put Lucian down when we first got in and he just took off running, he decided to be the leader of the group. We had a fun time trying to keep up with him. It took us a good 45 minutes to get through it, it was very well made. We kept running into these poor scouts that started before us, they could not seem to find the right path to the second half of the maze.

It was a good thing we started when we did, the sun had just set when we walked out the exit. There is no way that I would want to go through that maze at night. There were covered passages that were very creepy, we used our cell phones as flash lights. Yes, defiantly not at night and most defiantly not through the haunted maze they do on the weekends.

Time to update some pictures! Lucian is still a great big boy! 26 lbs now, 16 teeth, goes up and down the stairs like a champ and is now an avid walker.

He likes getting into his snack containers. He pries them open with his teeth.

For some reason he was being scared in the bath and wouldnt let me go.

If you dont know about Snickers, my family's dog, then here's the gist... He is afraid of small children. If they come near him he runs away like the cowardly dog that he is. It kind of makes me sad because I love Snickers and I want him to love Lucian but he wont even go near him. He has been making progress, sometimes he will come up to Lucian and smell him, and since he is too spoiled to eat that raw of meat I'm not worried about Snickers eating him.

We were having some dinner at my mom's house when we looked over at Lucian, who was feeding himself tiny pieces of bread, and saw him dropping some of the bread on the floor then looking over at Snickers, who, of course, came over and ate it. Lucian was trying to win over Snickers with food! We could hardly believe it!

We've been offering Lucian little bits of bread to begin teaching him how to chew. We heard that bread can help soothe a teething baby so we also sometimes give him a little strip like this to gum up.

WASHINGTON TRIP- AUG

We left Lucian with Jared's family one night and Brett and I went to a Weird Al Concert. It was my first concert and it was so much fun! Brett said that it was the best concert that he has ever been to. It helped that we were second row!

He had a different outfit for every song.

Yeah, he's awesome.

As his encore he did the Star Wars saga song and Yoda. It made Brett's life.

WASHINGTON TRIP- AUG

I know it has been a few months but here are some pictures from our trip to Seattle, WA. It was a blast!

We rode on a train to get downtown.

We went to the big farmers market there and there were street performers everywhere.

We spent Brett's Birthday at his parents house on Sunday. We decided to celebrate both of our Birthdays since mine is only a week and a half away.

I love making Brett fun cakes every year. When we were dating it was a spiderman head and last year was a Deathstar from Star Wars. This year it was R2-D2

We got a piggy bank of money from his family for our trip up to Washington. Isn't it so cute?

We took family pictures on Thursday and Lucian was such a good boy and took wonderful pictures.

He is already doing his papa's eyebrow movements. It is so cute to see all of his expressions! He is also starting to laugh. It is such a joy to hear him suddenly giggle.

We may be partial because he is our son but Lucian has gotten so strong lately. He likes us to help him stand up. We guide him but he pushes himself up with his legs.

Brett and I are pretty sure that Lucian is an ambitious spirit. He seems to get so frustrated that it is taking him so long to control his body. He is so cute.

7 Weeks

Rachel and Steve gave us a nice carrying harness and Lucain is getting use to it nicely.

The 1st of July we are moving into our new apartment in Rexburg. It's about time! I think we all agree that 7 months at your mother's house is quite long enough and we are glad to be able to move on as a family.

With Brett's job at the Maverik gas station as the Food Supervisor we are finally able to feel some stability and are looking forward to taking our first family vacation! In August we are going to be flying to Seattle for a week. We will be going to a Weird Al concert(which Brett has wanted to do since he was a child) and visit the local Renaissance Fair. We are thinking that we are going to dress up as gypsies. We also hope to visit some of our family that are and are going to be living up there. The plans are still in the works so we will just have to see what we can do.

We took Lucian out for his first walk in the stroller. He has a cute little hat to protect his face from the sun.

He really doesnt like baths yet. Poor guy. But he is getting better.

Cousin Hallie came over for a visit and got to hold him.

Here is Papa and the little dude in his very first picture. This is probably my favorite one. Brett is always so carful and gentle when holding Lucian. It is fun to catch them alone and see Brett content to just look at him.

Well it has been a week since the delivery and the momma is starting to fell less sore. Let me tell you labor is hard. Very, very, very hard. And oh so worth it when they suddenly put this little babe in your arms. There is something called hypnobirthing where you train your mind to go somewhere else or something and in the last bits of labor I apparently started doing that without realizing it. I like to play Text Twist where you make as many words as you can using six letters. So while holding my oxygen mask I remember suddenly scrambling words and mumbling them out loud. I could have swore that I saw Brett laughing at me but he couldnt hear what I was saying.

Lucian is such a cutie. He'll squint his little eyes at you like he's sizing you up. Or he'll just slightly open one eye and look at you long enough to think 'Oh you're holding me now' and then close again. Such eye character!

It' about time I post a prego picture! Here I am 34 weeks along. 6 weeks left to go!

I keep hearing that first time mom's usually go over their due date but I feel that I am going to be early. Is it just wishful thinking? Maybe. But I'd like to think that there is some motherly instinct at play.

Isnt this swing-a-majig awesome? We got it from my mom. I remember first seeing one like it and really wanting it for when Brett and I had a baby but knowing that we would most likely end up with one from the D.I.... Surprise to us!

I am going to start off by telling you that you don't have to watch this video. I am putting it here because youtube will probably take it off of its' site but I still want a place where I can direct people to if they want to watch it.

It has to do with the fanfiction that I am writing that is linked in the right side bar. I have had a lot of fun making it on windows movie maker today. Tip for anyone else that wants to try this... work from the beginning. Yeah, it sounds like a 'duh' but I put filler footage in the beginning b/c I didnt know what was going to go there. After the video was finished I went back to change the footage and had a not as fun time trying to fill up the right amount of time and get all of my already set footage back in sync with the music. sigh. I have hopefully learned my lesson.

Half way through February and I'm finally hitting that "I'm getting so big it's hard to bend over" stage in the pregnancy. But since the first stage was "I'm so sick I can't move," I'm not as worried about this part, though I understand it's going to be uncomfortable.

The past few days our cousins (the McKeens) have been around and we have had fun playing with them. Though Brett has been sick he was finally able to get out of the house and go tubing with them this afternoon. They had a lot of fun going around turns and over jumps. The video below shows one of their jumps.

Brett enjoyed himself but got a nice bruise on his hand from the ropes. He is putting ice on it but it has already swollen. Oh well. The next video is when they went over the jump but Brett bumped his head. If you watch carefully you can see him hit his head on Kimberly's arm. Problem? That arm is casted. Ouch.

Christmas Time is Here

This Christmas we were able to spend the entire time with Brett's family in Iona by Idaho Falls. We had a lot of fun. Their schedule is different than the one I had growing up. We weren't allowed to wake my parents up until 8 or 9 am, we would have a Christmas breakfast of homemade egg mcmuffins, read the scriptures of Christ's birth, then get to presents around 10 am and not get finished until around 1 pm.

At the Petersen's we read the Christmas story the night before from a wonderfully put together book with pictures and scriptures in it. The next morning we got up with the most enthusiastic child, which was our nephew Collin.

He loves playing with Brett and I just knew that he was going to find us in the morning and get us up. Sure enough, while looking for his parents he found our room around 7 am. He's got footy pajamas with sculls on them, they are awesome! The door opened, bringing light into the room, and then silence followed. Unsure, I rolled in Brett's direction and found Collin standing next to the bed staring at us. I was ready to kick Brett out of bed to get some more sleep until I was informed that we were going to open presents now. You can bet I had a nice long nap later on.

After visiting with our friends Rhett and Jessie we came back and did something I have always wanted to do. We made gingerbread houses from scratch. Apparently almost no one there had ever done it before either so we had a fun time. I had made the dough the night before then we divided into 3 groups and designed our houses then cut and baked the dough.

This is me holding the house together b/c powdered suger and milk icing doesnt work as well as one might think in holding together gingerbread. The other groups desided it would be wise to use hot glue and ended up with very stable, pretty houses. I wanted to be able to eat our house so we traded stability for an innocent look. Innocent meaning it looks like a child made it but we loved the way it turned out.

What's that on roof, you ask? Why that is our daredevil santa coming off the ramp.

We now know that the Tummy Dragon is a BOY! Off to the right is our countdown to the birth. His name is to be Lucian Douglas Petersen. Lucian the Dragon. I like the sound of that.

When we went to our appoitment to find out, he just wouldnt stay still and gave the nurse a hard time completeing all the pictures she needed to take to make sure that he was developing properly. When it came time to find out what he was he just strutted his stuff and practically yelled, "I'm a BOY!" It was funny.

Before the appointment I couldnt feel the baby. Everyone kept saying that I should feel "bubbles" or at least him moving. Thank you for making me worry about my baby! Aparently there was nothing wrong, the position of the placenta just makes it hard to feel as much. I have been definatly feeling him now! The other night I was laying in bed with my hand on my stomach and he kicked me! If Brett had his hand there he would have felt it. It was so neat! Now and then I can feel him doing barrel rolls back and forth. It will definately be intresting when he gets bigger.

Yes, that is the child's name so far. Isn't the dragon so cute! You should have seen Brett's face when they pulled up the heart beat. He was surprised that it was going so fast. Then they pulled this up and his jaw dropped. I couldn't help but laugh. The baby seemed to be rocking out in there and Brett loved it! Our next appointment is in December and we will hopefully be able to find out if the tummy dragon is a boy or a girl.

Looking at the this picture you think, hey pretty view, and it is, but you get a different perspective after you've biked up it. At the beginning of this summer I had the chance to go on the summit program for recreational management. For Five weeks I was in southern Utah, Moab area. I went canyoneering,

probably the hardest thing for me on the trip because we were in really small cracks in the rocks and did some high rappels. We also did hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting. The picture of me on the mountain? It was taken after the clouds cleared a bit and we were on our way down. Now that was scary! But I can now say I've hiked 12,050 ft.

You may have noticed that there are some new links off to the right. They belong to a fan fiction Cory is writing called Ryan's Destiny. I put it up because I wouldnt mind if you read it. There are a few things you should know though. 1) This is a Power Ranger story. Yes, I typed that correctly. It is from the season of Lightspeed Rescue. 2) The story is based off actual episodes so in the beginning I dont write down every scene. When I first wrote it I expected everyone to have already seen the episodes. 3) I am starting off writing fan fiction first b/c it gives me practice for my ultimate goal of Books. Yeah!

If you intrested in reading it here is the basic story so you don't get lost. Demons were released and their property now has a city built over it so they want to destroy it. Power Rangers are chosen by Capt. Mitchell of the government (first man technology team) to stop them. Time goes on, they make another ranger power but it stolen by the demons. That is where Ryan comes in. He works for the demons. He is also Capt. Mitchell's son and the pink ranger's brother. Years ago there was a car crash; the demons saved Ryan and raised him. Which side will he choose? Short and sweet overview and very delicious when you get into it.
